Below is the Shetland 535 before I took my saw to it. The reason behind this drastic action is as follows:
24th July 2009: I have two small kids who love boating but me, her indoors and the kids all packed for a day trip in the Shetland's cockpit all makes for a tight squash and alot of weight towards the stern. Therefore an open boat would suit better. With the recession, you couldnt give stuff away so after failing to sell it, I decided to adapt the boat to my needs. The Shetland 535 hull is sound and beamy giving plenty of room. Removing the cabin will lighten the boat and give better performance and economy when powered by its 20hp outboard. Hopefully it will turn out ok, so the following is a diary of how it is progressing.
